This one’s pretty old school now but I still have a real soft spot for it, as the first project I pitched to a client and managed from start to finish.
Wasteland was the biggest and most trusted ski trip provider for students in the UK. But at a time when other companies were starting to emerge and moving in on their turf, they needed a way to keep their title.
I was asked to rewrite their brochure, which featured a number of trips, tailored to different budgets. But as a recent graduate myself, I wasn’t sure this was enough.
I suggested they create a free magazine to leave in student unions all over the country. It would include varied and refreshing content, written in a lighthearted tone and ultimately sell in the idea that joining the university ski trip would be a good move.
I then wrote the whole thing and worked with a designer to bring it to life, all in the space of about five days. Nothing like a deadline.
