Extraordinary awaits
Just a few weeks before lockdown lifted in April 2021, I was briefed on a campaign to tap into the anticipation we all felt with real life on the horizon.
Not only this but notonthehighstreet was moving its business strategy away from just gifting to the world of ‘self-purchase’ and this was the first campaign to push its new agenda. It meant that while we needed a really product-centric idea with people at its heart, we also needed to be sensitive to the mixed feelings of excitement and anxiety at this time.
Dr. Suess’s “Oh the Places You’ll Go” is a poem that seamlessly mixes playful positivity with a universal optimism we can all enjoy. I used this as a starting point to develop the creative, with early scripts that mirrored the same poetic style but with references to product, occasion and the collective groupthink.
This was turned into a 60” film, alongside digital, VOD and social all produced by Friendly Giants and beautifully directed by John Turner.
It launched on 19 April as Ad of the Day on The Drum.
Alongside the 60” we created two 30” cutdowns for VOD via Data Match, which uses data to target and measure VOD campaigns through ITV & Channel 4. Further 15” social ads and 6” YouTube bumpers were created from the main film, along with photography for product posts on notonthehighstreet’s owned channels.
